Ōtanihon-byō

Ōtanihon-byō 大谷本廟 in Kyōto is a large temple of the True Pure Land School (浄土真宗 Jōdoshin-shū), more specifically the Honganji-ha 本願寺派. Inside the remains of sect founder Shinran 親鸞 are enshrined.

A statue of Shinran. When I walked passed this statue, a woman stood in front of it with her eyes closed and her hands in gasshō 合掌 position, talking to it out loud with a hint of desperateness in her voice.
